Current and historical yields earned each quarter from Unemployment Trust Funds from 1999 to the present.
Unemployment Trust Fund: Quarterly Yields data provides quarterly rates earned on Unemployment Trust Funds from 1999 to present. Each quarterly report lists the yield rate on reserves in Unemployment Trust Funds. The Unemployment Trust Fund is made up of 59 U.S. Treasury accounts, including an account for each state. Quarterly Yields are earned based on fund balances.
The District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands each have a state Unemployment Trust Fund account. States may borrow funds from the federal government through a Federal Title XII advance. See the Advances to State Unemployment Funds (Social Security Act Title XII) dataset for more information on those transactions. States that do not repay these federal loans by the end of the fiscal year in which they were obtained are charged interest at a rate equal to the earnings yield on the Unemployment Trust Fund for the quarter ending December 31 of the previous calendar year.
